22nd October, 2004
We passed through a 5.8 on Richter scale earthquake yesterday night at the midnight, we were scared because the movement took place 60 seconds. But God is Great and had mercy of us.

About Lucia we had a scare because she fallen from a swing in the park, my sister was with her . Lucia was wonded in face at mouth and nose she cry very much. She was frightened , we go at the hospital with her and she stay with her mother two days to check if are some problems. Hopefully there weren't major problems .
What a week!!

all the best for you and Joanna,
sincerely ,
Elena

Lucia has caught a cold but is on the medication. We expect an answer from Italy as to, when my sister has to go with Lucia for an year cardiac control check(in January it will be a year from the surgery) We will hear what are the chances to make the second surgery (the financial support and the Lucia's body support ). In present days she looks good but we notice that the fingers are blue and because it is cold weather, she is more sensitive.

Lucia came home from Italy last Tuesday and is " a completely different child". The surgery went "excellently", she is recovering fast, now waking freely, talking a lot (" if anyone can understand her!") and putting on weight. The family have nothing but praise for the care they received in Italy. They freely acknowledge that God has answered prayer.

All of this happiness is tempered by the knowledge that Lucia will need further surgery with more serious risk attached. This is scheduled for 18 months to 2 years ahead. The Italian doctors have promised to help again if possible. One of Lucia's major problems is a missing valve in her heart that can't be reconstructed but the Doctors are very hopeful of being able to help her. When her heart matures and she is a bit stronger they will attempt this surgery. We will continue to leave this little one in God's hands and trust Him.

What a wonderful gracious God we have!

I have received an email this morning from her surgeon in Italy.
......... I was outside Italy for few days. I am pleased to inform you that Radu Lucia has been discharged after a successful surgical procedure. The child is now back in Romania. The operation performed is a palliative one ( according to a plane of correction in the future) and the child will need a future admission.

This is good news and confirms what I have understood from other sources. I understand Lucia will need to return for surgery perhaps in six months.

Isn't God good? Thank Him for all He is doing for Lucia and continue to pray for her and her family. Pray that God will meet all their need. Pray that Lucia will continue to get proper medical care in Romania. Pray for the financial needs of this family. And pray that they will come to know our Lord and Saviour.

Dear David ,
Monday, the doctors did catheterisation, and today Wednesday  they do the surgery by-pass. I spoke with my sister and she said that the doctors told her it is a low risk operation . Everybody loves Lucia , they
named BELLA BELLA which means beautiful beautiful, and the doctor from cardiac echograpy said MIRACOLE , MIRACOLE which means miracle, miracle, that it was what my sister understood. There is a doctor from Chisinau, Moldova , and he speaks romanian and helps with the language to my sister ,because my brother in law , who speak English, German, Italian, was coming back, now is in Romania .
I will keep in touch,

Elena

Lucia has an appointment on Friday 9th, and there are plans for catheterization on 13th and her first surgery on 16th, God willing.

Praise God that He has made this possible.
Please pray for a safe journey.
Pray for the Doctors and staff in Italy, that they will have wisdom and skill.
Pray for this surgery to be successful and for Lucia to make a great recovery.
Pray for the family, for all their needs to be met.
