I received my heart transplant in 1991. In 1989 I had a massive heart attack even though I had no risk factors. My condition continued to deteriorate until my transplant on Easter Sunday 1991.

I am thankful for the miracle of my NewHeart. I wrote a book about my story - "Mr. NewHeart" which is available at my website.

Thank you for allowing this sharing and for praising our Creator. I was treated for CHD in 1962 and 1967 in the early days and am now 45. Please feel free to email me with questions about how it feels to be the child who lives through these surgeries. I can tell you how safe it feels to look up and see your family. The pain memory, even though you remember having it, does go away; the safety of knowing you were cared for and listened to stays with you.

David,
This is a wonderful site that you have created. It means so much to me that Xavier and our family was able to be a part of it. The support and encouragement that we received from people saying they heard about Xavier on 2hearts was amazing. I don't know what we would have done with out all of the prayers and support. I am grateful for you and your ministry. You have a special place in my heart. I continue to pray for you.
With Love,

I had a heart transplant at Vanderbilt Medical Center June 15, 1999 (my 43rd birthday). God has blessed me beyond measure! I was on the transplant list only 3 weeks. On June 5, 1999 I was admitted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. June 8, 1999 I went into cardiac arrest. A blood implant was put in place and I was flown by medjet to Vanderbilt. On June 11, 1999 a left ventrical assistant device (LVAD) was put in place and on June 14, 1999 in the late afternoon we received word a heart was becoming available. On June 15, 1999 at 2:30 a.m. I received my new heart. My donor was a 29 year old female with a blood clot to the brain. I have had seven wonderful and blessed years. I am an active member in my church in Knoxville and I love the Lord!

JERRA & HELEN HALL CARD CAMPAIGN

I am organizing a card campaign for the Helen & Jerra Hall (my mother and my niece) families. Jim & Ida, Stevie, Jerra and Helen & Dick all our need support.

Helen Hall is Jerra Hall's Grandmother. Helen Hall has emphysema and endocarditis (an infection around her heart) and was just released from the hospital in Alma Michigan. Jerra Hall is 2 years old and has had 3 open-heart surgeries (@ U of M in Ann Arbor Michigan) within 48 hours and is currently on ECMO (life support). If you would like daily updates on "the miracle baby" Jerra you can visit her carepage at

www.carepages.com

sign in under (Member name): camrhall
password: family

Then click on Jerra Hall

Yes, that means that Jim (my brother) has his 2 year old daughter on life support in one hospital and his mother has been in another hospital hours away. Due to Helen's (mom's) condition she does not know that Jerra is on life support, she has been told that Jerra is stable.

I would like to help cheer them, give them spiritual support and encouragement and even help with lifting Jim and Ida's burdens. Ida and mom are such loving and giving ladies I would like to give to them. It's hard to do that from Texas so I came up with this.

My intent for the card campaign is for Jerra's family to receive "Get Well" cards as well as gift cards to St. Louis IGA, Wal-Mart or Kmart. This is where Ida shops the most. "Get Well" and gift cards..it's a card campaign all around!!

The "Get Well" cards are to cheer, give spiritual support and give encouragement. The gift cards are to help with meal preparation and lift burdens. If they have had a particularly bad day .they may need to go to the IGA deli and order a meal.

You may also choose to send a gift card for a gas station or a Prepaid phone card. Jim and Ida spend many miles going back and forth to the hospital.

If you can help with this campaign, please send your cards and gift cards to:

The Hall Family (Helen Hall)
150 Fox Drive
St. Louis, Michigan 48880

OR

The Halls c/o Ronald McDonald House
1600 Washington Heights
Ann Arbor, MI 48104

Jim and Ida will get the cards if they are sent to Helen but if you want them to go directly to them use the Ronald McDonald House address.

This card campaign will run from July 18th until they tell us "Stop! Please Stop."

Please forward this message to anyone you think would like to help.

If you have questions, you can reach me at 972-516-1159 or hlainc@comcast.net.

Thanks in advance for your kindness! Please note that any type of card is fine, and if you feel you want to send a monetary donation instead, feel free, and a card sent without a gift inside, but is full of warm sentiments, well wishes and prayers, is always appreciated!!!

At 4 months old (March of 2004), Jeremy was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). A routine appointment to his pediatrician resulted in an immediate trip to the ER. When we arrived, he was cyanotic, unresponsive ... in heart failure. Once he was "stabilized," he was sent to two more hospitals until finally we arrived at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston. He spent a month in critically stable condition. The doctors tried everything, but he was unable to function on his own without life support. May 8 2004 he once again went into heart failure. Amazingly they were able to stabilize him again. At that point, there was no other option than to place him on the heart transplant list. Given only a week at the most for survival. The next morning we received a call. A donor heart had been found! He underwent a heart transplant on mothers day, May 9 2004 and his new life began on May 10th. He is now 10 months old, 6 months post transplant.

Unfortunately, transplant is not a cure. We've been through several illnesses due to him being so immunosuppressed and several hospitalizations. We still have many obstacles to face. Many things to overcome and deal with. It is all very overwhelming. We haven't found our "happily ever after" but we're coming to terms with the blessings that we were given. And our hopes are that Jeremy will be strong in what he's going to have to face as he gets older.

We all have our guardian angels. That beautifal little girl that blessed my son with a heart is his guardian angel.

For all those that are waiting for a heart transplant, I am a walking miracle, and a example that prayer still works, I got my heart in October of this past year....I, too wondered when GOD would answer, but as always He is right on time....

For those who have lost children due to heart disease, I also know exactly how you feel...I have lost two sons to heart disease, and my third child has Dilated cardiomyopathy.... (genetic) GOD will give you the grace to stand, even when you don't think HE will....You can honestly say you know what GOD's grace is because of what you have faced with your little one. My advice (from one who has been there) is "Give them to GOD and don't dwell on it" stay busy, and stay with the LORD, you have more to go to heaven for....you get to see your little ones, and as one woman told me, GOD has chosen to raise (pardon the southern slang) your little one, and who better to raise them, than GOD Himself!!!

Hi David
Keep on keeping on. It is a wonderful thing that when God sets a person aside from one ministry he opens the door of opportunity for another. May the Lord bless all your efforts to bring comfort and support to others in their time of need.

In Christ

David and Joanna,
We are both so thrilled that God has given you this ministry of encouragement out of personal trauma. It is clear from what others have written, how much people need one another. We are praying that the Lord will really use this ministry to His glory and for blessing. Maybe I should pray about doing something on "Living with pain!"

Much love
Jim & Eleanor

(David comments: "Please pray for Jim and Eleanor. Jim has suffered from chronic back pain for many years, yet is wonderfully used by the Lord in ministry" )

Thank you so much for this wonderful website. I have been looking for a Christian site that provides prayer for CHD kids. We are relatively new to CHD; our son, Kaston has tricuspid atresia and his 1st surgery was in May '03 at the age of 6 months. It is so nice to know there's Christian support out there for families dealing with heart issues.

God bless you & your family and may He heal your broken heart!

Thank to David to leave a message my site.

David, you have a wonderful website, and not only that, you have a fantastic spirit. Thank you that you offer help & support to so many people. I'm especially grateful to God for the help you've been to me, even though it's a completely different medical struggle that my family are going through. Thank you, and God bless you richly and more than you could ask or hope for.

Two further books may be helfpul.

The first is the classic by Horatius Bonar. Originally entitled, "Night of Weeping", it was republished in the 1970s with the title, "When God's Children Suffer".

The second is simply, "Suffering" by Herbert Carson, who was at one time a minister in Northern Ireland, and later in Leicester, England.

If they are out of print, try searching http://www.abebooks.com/ for a used copy.

Thank you for this! A very wonderful site. Tho my husband never lived to receive his Heart Transplant, God was very good to him, and transplanted his heart far different than that of the flesh. For that I give Him all Glory, Honor, and Praise. I will pray daily for you all!

God Bless
Sherrie

First off, I just want to say I am so sorry for the loss of all of the old entries to the guestbook.

Keegan celebrated his first birthday on March 23rd 2003. He is doing wonderful. He is growing well, and developing normally. I thank GOD every day for Keegan, and for the support and prayers I receive from everyone around the world. I am so glad you found me and led me to where I could get both emotional and spiritual support. Transplant is not a cure, and it is most certainly not an easy path, but I know GOD has very special plans for Keegan, and for our family. I tell everyone I meet about your site! Thank you for what you do. You are a very special person. I would be more than happy to speak with anyone looking for support, or just someone who has been there. Please feel free to contact me at Dotsie79@aol.com.

The loss of your guest book may seem like a bad thing, but it has allowed me to re-sign this book. At the time I first signed, I thought you had a nice site which provided a great service. That is indeed true. However, I have truly come to love the Two Hearts site and I know that the prayers that were sent by the readers on behalf of my grandson Nicholas, are what made the difference in his last cardiology visit. His doctor is astounded at his improvement.

So while I previously posted something nice in your guest book, I can now re-post with my sincere appreciation for this site and all you do, not only for people needing or who have received transplants, but for all who need extra support because of cardiac conditions.

Thank you,

Cheri Roe
