"Life
was a leisurely sail on the lazy river. Amy had all she wanted –
marriage, a home, and three boys. Then it got better. God was giving
her another special creation – this time a girl. Halle was
beautiful; blue eyes, blonde hair – and half a heart!
The
boat shuddered, the clouds hid the sun and the river of life turned
into an ever deepening turbulent canyon. Amy was swept along, helpless
and afraid. But in the darkness of the storm, Jesus came near and
whispered to her, “Peace, be still”. It was there in
the rapids that she found the Savior; she put all she had in His
arms and found grace: grace that saves and forgives; grace to see
that a loving sovereign God was always in control; grace that daily
proves to be sufficient, even when the dreams sink.
Amy
still is tossed by the tumbling waters of rejection and loneliness;
the canyon often narrows frighteningly because of Halle’s
health; the demands of family life often find her struggling to
stay afloat and her brutal honesty about her own failures and frustrations
threatens to capsize her. But always there is grace – grace
to love, grace to live, grace to laugh and grace to leave everything
in God’s hands.
I
have been privileged to witness part of this journey and have been
inspired and challenged by it, as I am swept along my own canyon.
Now you can witness it too. Be sure to bring your Kleenex. You might
just get a little wet!"
